Sleep Well.....

Earlier this week, my husband, Steve constructed this headboard and he and my daughter, Kristen, finished the upholstery work in just a couple of hours. Building the frame took around two hours so in an evening, they used their time to make something extraordinary. They did a beautiful job, working together from start to finish!!! They laughed and worked along side each other giving each other instructions about what the other should do.....all in fun of course! They finished their work beautifully and now we have a new product that we can offer. As they were working, I thought of a passage in the Bible that continues to bring blessing in our lives........

'Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home, or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night." Deuteronomy 6:6-7 MSG

I remember discovering these words when my children were very young and was overwhelmed with the instructions and the urgency to live out those words daily in my life. Honestly, I am still developing ways to live out my days in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. Truly I believe that He is urging us to live for Him in everyday ways and as the beautiful song goes....."Lead Me to The Cross, Savior I come, quiet my soul, remember Redemption's hill where Your blood was spilled for my ransom. Everything I once held dear I count it all as lost.....Lead me to the Cross, where Your love poured out. Bring me to my knees....." Our children, whether we have a new baby or an adult son, take their cues from us and I have to ask, am I laying down the things that do not matter. In my understanding of this passage of Scripture the Lord is saying lay down those things that do not matter and talk about the things that really do and then live them out ....before your children, your family, your friends and then share the Lords love with anyone who you sense needs some extra love.
